Leonid Gorokhov, born in Russia, studied cello at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. The exceptional artist made his debut in 1991 as a soloist with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. The cellist has played concerts all over the world with well-known orchestras and has also given concerts at many festivals. Highlights include concerts with the Royal Philharmonic English Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia Varsovia and the Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest. He also has a broad discography from Boccherini to Tchaikovsky. Leonid Gorokhov has been teaching as a professor at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover since 2008.

The ensemble Concilium musicum was founded in 1982. Paul and Christoph Angerer initially set themselves the goal of making music from the 18th century. Over time, the ensemble has continuously developed and expanded its repertoire. The Concilium musicum is known today for its broad musical spectrum. The heart of the ensemble is the Austrian baroque, Haydn, Mozart and their contemporaries, as well as 19th century Viennese dance music.
