HIKING IN THE BLACK FOREST AND ON THE BAAR PLATEAU

HIKE AROUND THE SCHWENNINGER MOOS
Experience hours of mystical fascination in the Schwenninger Moos. The Schwenninger Moos not only contains the source of the Neckar but also includes the parting of the waters for the North Sea and Black Sea drainage basins.

HIKE FROM THE SOURCE OF THE DANUBE TO SCHELLENBERG MOUNTAIN
Starting from the source of the Danube River, the hike takes you through the Fürstlich Fürstenbergischen Schlosspark (The Princely Fürstenberg Park) to Juniperus Spring. On the outskirts of town, you gently ascend Schellenberg Mountain, where you will be rewarded with a beautiful view out over the Baar plateau and all the way to the Alps. An impressive view accompanies you as you return to the centre of Donaueschingen, where you will find the Rathaus (town hall) and the Musikantenbrunnen (Musician Fountain).

HIKE TO FÜRSTENBERG
The starting point of the hike is the eponymous town of Fürstenberg, with the Fürstenberg summit being the highlight of this short circular hike. Looking back, you will see the impressive heights of the Black Forest, and once you have reached the top, you will have a magnificent view out over the Baar plateau as well as a breathtaking view of the Alps when visibility is good.

3-RAVINES-WAY
A visit to Wutach Gorge is an unforgettable experience for every hiker and nature lover. The Wutach River has burrowed deep into the landscape, with the riverbed and valley continuing to change to the present day. It is not without reason that the hike through Wutach Gorge is rated as one of the most scenic day tours in Germany.

HIKE AMONG THE DANUBE CLIFFS
It is not without reason that the transverse valley of the Upper Danube is also referred to as the region’s “Grand Canyon”.
Special highlights of the tour include the Burgsteig vantage point as well as the craggy Wolfental Valley that takes you to the Kallenberg castle ruins. With a bit of luck, you may even see chamois, a type of short-horned goat-antelope native to the area, on this section of the hike. The route includes brisk uphill and downhill sections, always on the renowned long-distance hiking path known as the Donauberglandweg (Donau Highlands Trail).

THREE-CHALET TOUR ON FELDBERG MOUNTAIN
From the trailhead, you begin with the steep ascent to the Bismarck Monument on Seebuck Mountain, which provides you with an extraordinary panoramic view of the Black Forest, the Alps and the Vosges Mountains. You continue along the ridge past the Feldberg Tower and through the Grüblesattel dip to the summit of Feldberg Mountain. The next destination is the St. Wilhelmer Chalet, the highest Alpine lodge in the Black Forest. From there you can take the same path back to the trailhead at Haus der Natur.
